Bottle Rockets - Sebright Arms.

On Friday 8th May, I was lucky enough to see Bottle Rockets, an alt indie band from Glasgow perform at the Sebright Arms in London. Now I’m not afraid to admit that I didn’t go to this gig specifically for this band, however, I did know some of their music going into it. So in a way, I already knew what the vibe was and I had high expectations. Also want to add here that the venue did God’s work with the lighting during this set. I often find some smaller, more underground venues, don’t always do justice when it comes to lighting, but I’ll give credit where it is due. The photos and footage that I got during their set were some of the best I’ve ever got. (All photos and footage can be found over on my instagram).

When I tell you this band didn’t disappoint, I mean they didn’t disappoint. Their sound on stage is almost identical to what you hear when you play their music on streaming platforms which is actually quiet rare these days. If you like emotional and heartfelt alt indie-rock than this is a band that you are definitely not going to want to miss out on. The band had a strong performance, with high energy and the singers vocal control is absolutely incredible. I would absolutely go and see this band live again should the opportunity arise. Also would like to add that the singer looked absolutely stunning.

Personal favourites that the band performed were Limerance, Community Service and Limerance. Limerence and Community Service were songs I knew well going into the gig but hearing them live was a whole different feeling. Fathers Daughter almost had me in tears though. The emotion that is put into that song is on another level, and you can truly tell that the lyrics came straight from the heart. A lot of their music I found is quiet deep, but highly relatable and I think a lot of people will resonate with it. Some of their songs are slower which helps to capture the raw emotion and helps set the tone, whereas a few others are a little more upbeat with playful undertones almost acting as a juxtaposition to the message the song is portraying, almost making the song a little bit cheeky.

Overall though, this band is definitely worth catching if you get the chance and I will be supporting this band going forward.
